Virtual STEAM Forward Academy (Winter Cohort: mid-Jan through early-Mar 2021)

During these unprecedented times, it is more essential than ever to keep children engaged throughout the school year.  Often, science based virtual classrooms lack the opportunity for hands-on learning.  Studies have shown that experiential learning plays a major factor in helping kids retain information and find joy within a subject. Further, combining science, technology, engineering, and math with art (STEM + A= STEAM) promotes a positive learning environment for kids.  Our Virtual STEAM Forward! Academy offers the perfect balance of a small classroom size and interactive activities.  Benefits of registering for the program include:

**Note: This course is sold as a packaged, 8-session program, at $12 per session ($12 x 8 = $96).

Our workshops are geared towards children ages 6-10 years old (grade K-5).  The 8-week program runs every Saturday morning at 10:00 am-10:45 am ET from January 16 through March 6, 2021.  The curriculum includes a range of activities across the STEM fields. Upon completing registration, an email confirmation will be sent to the email on file with meeting login information, schedule of activities and supply list. The registration fee is per household, not per student.

Combined, our instructors have over 30 years of teaching, mentoring & STEAM outreach experience.

During each workshop, students will follow along in an exploratory manner as the instructor provides step-by-step instructions.  Additionally, the instructor will cover learning objectives, vocabulary, and fundamental concepts to go beyond just performing the demo. Our goal is to get the students excited about STEAM!

Please note: Supplies shall be provided by the parent or guardian.  All activities will include low-cost, common household materials or those that can be obtained easily.  To aid in preparation, a detailed supply list  and  Amazon list for some of the supplies will be emailed upon completing registration .  The list will be emailed within 24-48 hours of completing registration.

After completion of each activity, students will have access to video recordings of the sessions.

Enrollment for the program ends on January 9th, 2021.  Refunds requests will only be honored during the enrollment period.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Q: What platform will be used for the sessions?

A: Enrollees will receive a secured Zoom link that will be used for each session.

Q: Do parents need to provide supervision while the the students participate?

A: Parents are encouraged to provide supervision as they deem necessary.  Younger children may need assistance to do some of the activities.

Q:  Are the activities safe for the students to perform?

A: Although the activities are generally safe and use household items, we encourage parents to purchase safety goggles and disposable gloves from our materials list and use as recommended. Facilitators and the program shall not be held liable for injuries, damages, that may occur.

Q: What if my child misses a session?

A: As an enrollee in the program, students will have access to video recordings of each session.

Q: Is the registration fee per child or per household?

A:  The registration fee is per household, for all 8 sessions.  The more the merrier from your household! Please note, the supply list is based on a per child basis.

Q:  Will a supply list be provided?

A: Yes, we will provide a detailed list of the supplies needed for each activity upon completing registration.
